Tri-Campus Battle of the Chefs 2025

Team St. George Brings Home the People’s Choice Award!

On November 20, 2025, chefs from across the University of Toronto faced off in the annual Tri-Campus Battle of the Chefs, hosted this year at Harmony Commons at U of T’s Scarborough campus. This culinary competition challenges campus chefs to create an original dish using one secret ingredient, and this year, the chefs were tasked to create a dish using potato!

Across the St. George campus, students, staff, and faculty gathered at New College Dining Commons, Chestnut Dining Commons, CampusOne Dining Commons, and Robarts Food Hall for special viewing parties. Thank you to everyone who came out to cheer on our chefs and celebrate together!

Meet the chefs behind Team St. George:

Representing St. George Food Services, Chef Dale, Chef Trish, and Chef Kay crafted a dish that perfectly included the secret ingredient! Their final creation was a stunning showcase of technique and flavour:

  • Crisp Potato-Wrapped Halibut with Buttered Yukon Gold Purée
  • Fresh Herb Salad
  • Port Demi

To tie the dish together, they served an inventive Virgin Dirty Potato Martini, made with potato water, non-alcoholic vermouth substitute, olive brine, lemon juice, and ginger beer!
