Eco2Go

Our commitment to sustainability includes the Eco2Go reusable food container program to reduce single-use plastics. To encourage use of the program, we’ve provided one container free of charge to every student resident of Chestnut Residence, New College, Oak House and CampusOne. Students who purchase an Optional Access Meal Plan are also eligible to receive an Eco2Go container.

All Mandatory Meal Plan holders should have received a Eco2Go card during residence move-in. If you have not received your Eco2Go card, please speak to a Residence Life staff member.

Qualifying Optional Meal Plan holders will receive a notification advising where to collect their Eco2Go card. If you have not received your Eco2Go card, please email the Meal Plan Office at mealplan@utoronto.ca.

How It Works

Step 1

At your next visit to the Dining Commons, please make sure to bring your Eco2Go card.

*Please refer to your Dining Commons page for the Take-Out Allowance Terms.

Step 2

When you get to the cash register, present an Eco2Go card in exchange for an Eco2Go container. Please note: if you do not have the card, you will be charged $10. One card gives you one container.

Step 3

Fill your container with food from the various Dining Commons stations.

Repeat!

At your next visit, return your used, empty container to the cashier and you will be given an Eco2Go card. Please try to empty the container – but no need to wash. We will wash and sanitize it for you!

You can return your used Eco2Go container at any time, even if you are not purchasing another meal. Simply return the container to a Dining Commons cashier, and you will receive this card in exchange to present next time you purchase a meal in an Eco2Go container.

Terms and Conditions

  • For Access Meal Plans using your Eco2Go card will count as one entry swipe to the Dining Commons.
  • For qualifying declining balance Optional Meal Plans, your Eco2Go card will count as one weekly Dining Dollar door rate entry.
  • Takeout swipes/entries are not used in conjunction with a dine-in swipe/entry. If a Meal Plan holder wishes to dine-in and use a takeout swipe/entry, this would count as two swipes or entries.
  • This card has no cash value and is not transferable.
  • This card is valid for one (1) container exchange during the current academic year.
  • For health and safety reasons, food purchases must always be placed in a clean Eco2Go reusable container. Personal containers cannot be substituted in place of the Eco2Go container.
  • Lost cards/containers require the purchase of a new card ($10.00*) to continue the Eco2Go program.
