Food Services Meal Plan Advisory Committee

The Meal Plan Advisory Committee is a group of passionate students who are current Food Services commuter or residence meal plan holders, and staff.
Committee members will meet to discuss student needs and offer feedback on information and ideas presented by the Meal Plan Working Group and Envision Strategies, the consultant working with Food Services. Committee members will be invited to comment on future meal plan strategies and provide valuable insights into the student dining experience.
We are looking to recruit open-minded students who can think creatively about how to solve a problem. You’ll be passionate about the needs of your community and committed to championing diversity, equity and inclusion. You will be willing to actively contribute time and energy to your advisory committee responsibilities.
As a committee member, you’ll have a unique opportunity to represent your student community and be the voice of Food Services meal plan holders at U of T. You’ll also receive a $150 gift card in appreciation of your time.

The Meal Plan Advisory Committee is a group of current U of T students who are registered as Food Services commuter or residence meal plan holders, and U of T staff. Committee members will meet to discuss student needs, providing valuable insights into the student dining experience and offering feedback on information and ideas presented to them.
They will work closely with the Meal Plan Working Group. Committee members will attend three meetings throughout the consultation process from January to March 2024.
The Food Services Meal Plan Working Group is made up of the following members:
- Jeffrey Bruyea – Director Retail and Residential Dining, Spaces & Experiences – Co-Chair
- Steve Masse – Dean of Residence & Director, Student Life, Spaces & Experiences – Co-Chair
- Jaco Lokker – Director, Culinary Operations and Executive Chef, Spaces & Experiences
- New College – Leah McCormack-Smith – Dean of Residence and Student Life
- Rob White – Consultant – Envision Strategies*
- Eliza Davies-Greenwald – Administrative Support
*To complete the Meal Plan review, Food Services has also enlisted the help of Envision Strategies, a consultancy focused on helping food service and hospitality organizations innovate, optimize services, and improve performance.
Food Services is reviewing its meal plan structure for the 2024/2025 academic year. At the conclusion of the review, the working group will put forward a series of recommendations that will be considered by the Director, Retail and Residential Dining in consultation with the Assistant Vice-President, Spaces & Experiences.
The Meal Plan Advisory Committee’s primary objective is to provide feedback on the data, ideas, and other information presented by Envision Strategies and the Meal Plan Working Group. The insight of Advisory group members is instrumental in helping the working group understand the varied and diverse needs of meal plan users.
The advisory group will meet three times throughout the consultation process, with sessions expected to begin mid-January 2024 and conclude by March 2024.
In recognition of the time and commitment required of student Committee Members to participate in this review, those who attend all the meetings will each receive a $150.00 gift card for their participation. Honoraria will be issued at the completion of the review process.
All current U of T students who are commuter or residence meal plan holders are eligible to apply. Food Services is actively looking to recruit the following Committee Members:
